Shampoo and conditioner?

i have really dry, dead, damaged, hair and i always have to condition my hair, so i don't shampoo every day i do it every other day so i don't use at much shampoo . I experiment with different types of conditioners so i usually have a lot and i only have like 2 bottles of shampoos...

so i was wondering do you really need to get matching shampoos/conditioners in order to get the best results? or is it okay to mix and match the shampoo and conditioner? (b/c on the bottle is says to get optimal results use after the matching shampoo)Shampoo and conditioner?
They tell you to use the matching products so that you will stick to their brand, and therefore, spend more money than you otherwise might have. In reality, you don't even need to use the same brand, let alone the same product line, for the best results.

I would recommend finding a shampoo with lots of protein in it, and little alcohol or fragrance. All those fancy ';deep conditioning'; products you buy at the supermarket seem to work at first, but in the long run they dry your hair out even more. Splurge a little on an organic shampoo from Whole Foods, Lush, etc.

You can also look online for organic, do-it-yourself remedies, using natural products such as avocado, olive oil, or even beer. Just Google terms like ';organic hair mask';, ';diy hair treatment';, ';deep conditioning treatment';, etc.

If you need a ';quick fix';, you can pick up something called a protein pack at Sally's beauty. Lots of brands make them, and they're made to be used ever couple of weeks on really dry, damaged hair. They usually cost about a buck.

Good luck!Shampoo and conditioner?
It's acceptable to mix shampoo and conditioners. I like to use Pert for fine hair. I find that it is very gentle on my hair and keeps it moisturized. Also, you might consider using a leave-in conditioner. You don't want to put a lot oil in your hair. What you want are vitamins and so you might try some vitamin shampoo and conditioner. I would recommend getting the same brand only because you know they are both the same formula but it won't matter too badly.
yeah i think its okay if u mix, because ive done that before and havent noticed any effects. I also have really dry hair thats really thick and have been recently using Redken Smooth Down shampoo and Biologe Hydrotheapire Conditioning Balm. I really love the combo of the two and they work well!
i dont think they have to match at all!

in salons what they do is that they deep condition by placing conditioner in the hair (after shampooing) and u put a cap on it and go under the tall hairdryer for like 15 minutes then wash it out.

that will help with the dry hair and prevent breakage
obviously the marketers are going to say that you should buy their products they want your money.

just like they say rinse and repeat, that is not always necessary.

switching shampoos and conditioners is acctually healthy for your hair

so your hair doesnt get used to just one product
I mix and match a lot of times. For example I just finished off my Tresemme where I was using a color reviver shampoo for my color treated hair and then I was using a really moisturizing conditioner because I use heat on my hair everyday. I hope this helps!
